Unsightly and embarrassing, nail fungus or Onychomycosis, is a problem that impacts far more people than you think. Nail salons, public showers, gyms, and other moist environments are rife with bacteria that causes toenail fungus. Topical medicines are most typically prescribed for treatment of nail fungus, but are sometimes unable to penetrate the nail plate, the heart of the problem. You may see temporary relief, but recurrence is not unusual after discontinuing use. Oral medication is also a common method of treatment, and can be effective, but requires very prolonged use and can be very toxic to the body.

Harmony Laser Center is proud to introduce a solution that can better attack nail and toenail fungus. Our comprehensive nail fungus treatment begins by using the YAG Laser, which heats the nail plate and kills the fungi that causes Onychomycosis. For ten toes, the procedure takes just 15 minutes and is pain free, with no anesthesia required and just three treatments over nine months are typically all that is needed. After each procedure, you are able to continue with your regular schedule. All you need to do is simply keep your nails clean and dry and not apply nail polish for two weeks.

Over the next 9 to 12 months, a new, non-infected toenail grows out. Your medical laser provider will discuss your specific case with you and recommend care techniques that you should follow to reduce the recurrence of the infection from the environmental causes listed above.
