Q:Where is it used?A:BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to relax facial muscles such as frown lines, crows feet, forehead lines, and more giving you a more "rested appearance".
Q:How much does Botox cost?
A:The cost depends on the number of units used. The average treatment costs approximately $300 to $400.
Q:How often do I have to get treated?
A:The goal is to treat the areas optimally so that over time you need less frequent treatment. After the initial treatment, a follow-up appointment may be scheduled two weeks later to check the results. Your next treatment would be scheduled approximately four months later.
Q:When will I see results?
A:Initial results are often seen within five to seven days after treatment. Final results can take up to two weeks.
Q:Are there any restrictions after receiving an injection?
A:We provide a list of do's and don'ts at your consultation but most people are able to go about normal activities after an injection. Immediate don'ts for four hours after receiving an injection include not laying flat, working out, or doing any activity where you are looking or bending down.
Q:Is it ok to have an injection before my wedding or big event?
A:It is recommended that you plan any injections (BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® and dermal fillers) at least 30 to 60 days before a big event. Occasionally minor bruising can result from the initial treatment but should resolve in one week to 10 days. Your injection specialist can discuss ways to prevent bruising and can also provide treatment to speed healing should any bruising occur. By planning your injection well in advance there will be time to make any necessary adjustments so that you will feel beautiful and confident for your special event.
Q:Can Botox be used to help with excessive sweating?
A:Yes. Botox is used for severe underarm sweating by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. The treatment can last anywhere from 7-12 months.

Clint Flanagan, MD, is board certified in family medicine and a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine. He has advanced training in aesthetics, injectables and lasers. His areas of interest and expertise include laser applications for spider veins, pigmented lesions and facial rejuvenation, dermal fillers, as BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, acne treatments, and preventive skin care. - Patricia Ritter, MSN, APN, Injection Specialist & Trainer
Patricia Ritter is a nurse practitioner who has been administering injections for approximately seven years. She has been a guest speaker at industry conferences and a national trainer for some of the most recognized injectable products out today such as: BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, RADIESSE®, JUVÉDERM®, and Restylane®. She has mentored and taught medical professionals across the country in the use of injectables. - Jessica Tasa, RN, Injection Specialist
Jessica Tasa is a registered nurse with more than 14 years of clinical experience including a diverse background in acute and procedural medicine. She received training for administering BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers more than two years ago, and has completed many other advanced injectable training courses.
